I do miss the blogging though, and I vow to try to do better! With all that is currently going on and coming up though, I'm not going to make any promises. Life is full and busy and that is wonderful! I have been reminded daily of my many blessings lately and I am just so freakin' thankful for my life!!!!!! Life. Is. Good. :-)
So....... what has been happening!!??? I have no pictures today. I am blogging from work. Yes, I am at work! HOLY CRAP! I haven't worked a Friday in about a year. But, this week, I was traveling home from Chicago on Monday and Luke came down with Croup on Tuesday... so my three work days shifted to Wednesday through Friday. I am so lucky to have the flexibility to do that though!!
Moving on. Updates!!! Since we last chatted, both Scott and I recovered from wicked colds. We were both sick for a week each. Not at the same time, luckily, but each pretty down and out for a full week. Scott's turned into a sinus infection and he ended up on an antibiotic. But, we came out of that illness... and just in time for things to get busy!!!
I planned an awesome Valentines Day party for Ally and her class (pat, pat myself on the back!). I took pictures of every one of the kids, printed them (on my fancy little printer) and the kids made frames for them and took them home for their valentines gift to their parents. We played Valentines Day bingo and ate lots of yummy treats!!! It was a huge hit and as it was my second party as the official room mom, it went much more smoothly than Halloween! I am getting in down!!!!!
On a similar note... I was asked to be on the PTO Board at Queens.... since I have been so involved and volunteering so much... they decided to make me an officer. :-))))) They must be hard up! HA!!! No... I am truly excited to be more involved and take on this leadership role. I absolutely LOVE our school and enjoy the time I spend there. It's like a great big family... and I have never felt so much support and acceptance - as we were new this year! Ally has really flourished there!
Oh... and get this kids... I'm gonna be treasurer. HAHAHA!!!!!!!! They are putting me in charge of the money............. you're laughing righ now, aren't you??? Good thing I am married to a CPA. ;-)
The week after that.... Scott took a little business trip.... and in the two days that he was gone, our water got turned off, I lost our dogs, and Ally puked everywhere. Good times!!!! He came home and we took a little overnight trip to the Holiday Inn here in Jackson... just to have a night away and go swimming!!! We stayed in a kids' suite... they had bunk beds in a little room off our room, which had a king bed and a pull out couch! Cute rooms!!! Nice and new. Restaurant on site where the kids ate free during our entire stay. It was a great night away!!!
We went and visited my new(er) niece, Charlotte... and got some great pictures of the kids together. I do have a few of those since I can grab the images from Facebook.
The kids were so great with her... but they do have a lot of experience with babies after all! Ally can be quite the helper when it comes to her little cousins... and even Luke has grown to love the babies. He's a tough sell though as he's pretty sure he's still the baby himself... and, at home... he very much is.
The following week was a busy one. We were all home together for Presidents Day and we went out and about for lunch, went to Target to spend our gift cards from Nana and Papa and enjoyed the day together. Ally had a special Girl Scouts event, Thinking Day, which I helped out at.
That weekend, we had a Lock-In at the school... which I have a zillion fun pictures of. The kids had a blast, but the highlight was surely the Tug of War at the end...... watching all those grades compete against one another was too much fun!!! The squeals of delight were totally worth the headache that followed.
Then, Saturday morning I got up and drove to Chicago for a fabulous girls' weekend with some of my favorite people in the world!!!! Saturday, my friend Beth and I shopped the day away on Southport... met up with Sandy for sushi and martinis at our favorite sushi place, Rise on Southport... and had a wonderful girlie day. Shopping. Eating. Drinking. Talking.
Sunday... I headed over to my friend Chelsea's... and we once again, met up with Beth to shop the Mag Mile this time. We had an early dinner at Bandera... and headed to the David Gray Concert at the Chicago Theater. What an amazing show!!!! Chels and I were giddy for the show, as wel always are.... we are HUGE music lovers... and in turn, concert lovers!!!
David put on an accoustic show... very different from his usual concert. Scott and I have recently seen him perform with Ray LaMontagne at Meadowbrook and in Windsor. This was a much different show. Low key... think XM Coffee House arrangements. Super powerful stuff......
After the show... we headed to a bar to grab a bite and a drink..... and then, we had to walk back by the theater to get to the Red Line to go "home." As we walked back by... we noticed a small group of peole hanging out by the "back doors" of the theater, near some large buses. Tour buses? Hmmm... we stop and wait... and minutes later:
Mr. Gray exits... and signs my ticket and poses for all little picture with us. PURE JOY and happiness to meet someone you think ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!! What a kind and gracious man he was...... truly loves and appreciates his fans........... it was so freakin' amazing..........
Monday morning, I enjoy sleeping in late... and a lesiurely morning with Beth and Chelsea.. coffee... talk, talk, talk... and I head home to pick Luke up at a normal time and have dinner with my hubby and kids... what a great start to my week!!!!
Poor Luke... Tuesday, he comes down with Croup, so I stay home with him.... and I have a nasty cold too... and we are all just plugging away at our week now..... it has been a good one though. Full of joys despite the stupids colds......
I am proud to share that Scott was promoted this week! I am super proud of my fabulously smart, amazing, hard-working hubby... who deserves this more than anyone I know. :-) He was made Director of Tax Compliance and Accounting just this week, with the announcement going out, company-wide this morning. I love that people are coming into my office... congratulating ME. :-))))) He oversees the entire Tax Department now, reporting to the Vice President of Tax.... he will kick some ass in this job. I know it. :-)
So much to enjoy and be grateful for. Our lives are truly blessed and full.... and I am thankful for every minute..................
